Plant/Area

Dow is seeking a Power Distribution Electrician in Seadrift, Texas.

About you

Are you a team player that requires minimal supervision? Do you enjoy installing, testing, and maintaining industrial electrical equipment? If you answered yes to these questions this might be the job for you!. In this role you will install, test, and maintain industrial electrical equipment (up to 69KV) and control systems in a safe manner.

You will also do the following tasks:

Read and understand electrical schematics to verify proper electrical isolation of circuits and equipment.
Read and understand electrical schematics to diagnose issues with electrical distribution equipment.
Installation, testing, maintenance and troubleshooting industrial electrical distribution equipment including but not limited to:Medium voltage switchgear, breakers and motor control centers
Low voltage switchgear, breakers and motor control centers
HV Switchyards, circuit breakers and air switches
Transformers
Cables
Induction motors, synchronous motors, DC motors, generators
Variable speed drives
Protective relays
Battery and UPS systems



Required qualifications

A high school diploma or equivalent and one of the following is required:

An Associate Degree or higher in Electrical Technology or similar discipline. In lieu of a degree Dow will consider those with 4 or more years of relevant Military training.
2 or more years of electrical maintenance experience or other experience working with in-service electrical equipment.

Also required:

Willing and able to work on a 4-10 schedule (4 days per week at 10 hours per day) with overtime as dictated by business needs.


Participates in an after hour call rotation for night and weekend coverage.

-The ability to work a full shift, come to work on time, work overtime and holidays as needed and the ability to work according to the necessary schedule to meet job requirements with or without reasonable accommodation is an essential function of this position.


A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.



Willing and able to meet physical demands of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations:

Lift, push, and pull up to 55 pounds.
Ability to perform physical work, such as handling of equipment.
Work at heights, climb stairs and ladders.
Stand and walk for extended periods of time.
Frequently bend, reach, and lift.
Ability to wear arc flash PPE and shock hazard PPE used for electrical work.
This role does involve elevated work greater than or equal to four feet above the ground



Your preferred qualifications include:

Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code.

Your skills, knowledge, and abilities include:

Ability to safely work on or near energized parts and equipment within the guidelines of the Dow Electrical Safe Work Standard and industry standards.
Work near live rotating equipment
Effectively work and maintain relationships with the Natural Work Teams and key stakeholders with diverse perspectives and background is essential including Engineers, Operations personnel, and co-workers to identify and resolve technical issues.
Being proficient in Microsoft applications, such as Word and Excel.
Demonstrating competencies in the areas of: leadership, initiative, teamwork, and interpersonal effectiveness.
Ensuring a safe work environment by working safely and, complying with environmental, health and safety standards.
Strong work ethic and being able to remain productive in an empowered team environment.
