Entity and activity description

Air Liquide Large Industries provides our customers with industrial gas and energy solutions that are vital to their own industrial production. We own and operate over 2,000 miles of industrial gas pipelines in the U.S. supplying mainly oxygen, nitrogen, hydrogen and syngas in large quantities from multiple production sources to major customers in the chemicals, petrochemicals, refining and steel industries. Our pipeline operations and industrial gas production facilities are closely monitored 24/7 within our leading-edge operations control center located in Houston, Texas. Our operations control group monitors over 89,000 data points and assists with product supply and coordination. We are constantly optimizing our supply network to provide high reliability and energy efficiencies allowing Air Liquide to adjust supply needs more quickly and effectively enabling growth to our customers.

Job Responsibilities

HSE Responsibilities:

* Fully supports, accurately completes, maintains, and instills corporate Health, Safety and Environmental policies/procedures and relevant documentation at the facility in operating/maintaining responsibility for a safe, efficient, environmentally friendly facility.
* Instills safety in others by being safety minded; acts as a role model for good safety practices.
* Participation in facility safety meetings, inspection.
* Identifies hazards associated with maintenance and mitigates them using existing HSE procedures.
* Participation in facility safety meetings, inspections.

Operational Responsibilities:

* Demonstrates identified skill sets in daily operational duties including the use of sight, sound, smell and touch, as well as reviewing trends and operating data to identify abnormalities.
* Participates in operational/routine maintenance tasks within facility work group without interruption of customer product deliveries.
* Fosters open communication amongst all facility technicians in relation to best practices, operational/facility needs, safety issues/concerns, conflicts of interest between shifts/other departments, sharing operational knowledge/expertise.
* Ensures accurate/complete information is entered into maintenance work orders and performs basic troubleshooting of equipment to better establish maintenance needs.
* Conducts acceptance PSSR reviews with operations and maintenance.
* Determines if immediate maintenance action is required; documents it; reports to appropriate personnel.
* Studies and maintains site-specific standard operating procedures, P&IDs, PFDs, Equipment O&M manuals and Interlock Schedules and all other technical documentation as relates to operational/equipment processes.
* Facilitates continuous improvement by regularly reviewing and improving site SOPs and other site specific documentation.
* Participates in an on-call rotation with other operators in the off-hours to respond to plant alarms and to assist drivers in loading liquid product.
* Trainable or already certified on plant equipment include forklifts and man lifts.
* Demonstrate the ability to understand control loops and process logic.
* Calibrate plant analyzers using SOPs.

Administrative Duties:

* Create work orders and complete preventive maintenance work orders in the computerized maintenance management system.
* Maintain plant records and the plant filing system.
* Maintains accurate records, is diligent in documentation, and remains aware and compliant with record retention policies/procedures.
* Generating initial documentation for on-site contractor, vendor, guest, or visitor site-specific training needs.
* Escorting on-site contractors, vendors, guests, or visitors throughout facility as needed; ensures their compliance with national safety policies/procedures.
* Follows policies/procedures on proper notification for vacation scheduling, floating holidays, personal days off.

Continuous Improvement:

* Actively pursuing own growth/career development through self-initiative practices; working with resources made available as coordinated with supervisor. Works to move to the next level in the production technician progression ladder.
* Facilitates continuous improvement by regularly reviewing and improving site SOPs and other site specific documentation.
* Assists/works closely with operations manager, plant manager, ops staff and maintenance staff with daily facility needs.
* Involves themselves in innovation and improvement projects.

Required Qualifications

* High school diploma or GED
* 2+ years of related industrial operations experience
* Ability to work rotating 12 hour shifts.
* Ability to work overtime, shift work and during off hours as operational needs dictate.
* Ability and willingness to participate in the plant on call rotation to respond to plant alarms and to assist drivers in loading product.
* Familiarity with using e-mail, cell phones, office computer software
* Overall understanding of plant safety rules, regulations, company safety policies/procedures
* Performs all work in compliance with standard operating/maintenance procedures, utilizing current Life Safety skills, Safe Start and safety requirements including safe work permits, energy control isolation, IDLs, confined space entry work, hot work, work plans, pre-job discussions, plant safety inspections, etc.
* Acquiring knowledge/ability in all plant operations including processes/equipment
* Exhibits understanding of governmental regulations including environmental permitting/compliance, loading/quality assurance, basic electricity, national/local operating procedures, CMMS, maintenance management process, all HSE issues associated with the facility.
* Exhibits mechanical ability
* Able to lift 50 lbs and climb ladders
* Ability to effectively wear PPE and use other safety equipment

Preferred Qualifications:

* 5 year or more of related industrial operations experience or 3+ years of experience in the operation of Air Separation Units.
* Experience calibrating plant analyzers
* Experience with Oracle and Maximo
* Previous experience leading safety initiative
