Dow has an exciting opportunity for anIndustrialElectricianinSeadrift, Texas.

Job Purpose:

The purpose of this job is to provide electrical maintenance support. The incumbent will be responsible for installing, testing and maintaining industrial electrical equipment and control systems in a safe manner.

Duties could include, but are not limited to installing, connecting, maintaining and troubleshooting:

+ Low and medium voltage motor control systems, switchgear, transformers, substations instrument cable and signal cable

+ Building and area lighting systems

+ Electric motors and generators

+ Motor drives systems (synch./induction/DC/VFD)

+ UPS systems and other power conversion devices.

Required Qualifications:

+ Able to work a 4-10 work schedule. (4 shifts per week, 10 hour shifts).

+ Able to work overtime, including holidays, nights, and weekends.

+ A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Physical Requirements:

Able to meet the following physical demands of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations:

+ Lift, push, and pull up to 55 lbs.

+ Frequent bending, reaching, and lifting

+ Stand 50% of the time.

+ Walk for extended periods of time

+ Wear all required personal protective equipment, including but not limited to respirator.

+ Our safety equipment has weight restrictions. In order to qualify, you must be able to use standard safety equipment which is rated for someone who weighs 300 pounds or less.

Preferred Qualifications:

+ Electrical experience in a chemical manufacturing plant.

+ Proficient in Microsoft applications, such as Word, Excel and Outlook.

Educational Requirement:

Must have a high school diploma or GED and one of the following:

+ Associates degree or higher in Electrical Technology, or similar degree.

+ Dow will consider those with 4 or more years of relevant military experience in lieu of a degree.

+ 5 or more years of experience as an electrician in an industrial, manufacturing, power plant, or electrical distribution environment.

Skills and Abilities:

+ Working knowledge of the theories and working practices of a journeyman electrician, including, but not limited to:

+ Operation and construction of low and medium voltage equipment, including motor starters, circuit breakers, control circuits, induction/synchronous/DC motors, motor drives, UPS systems and other power conversion devices; current transformers (CT) and voltage/potential transformers (VT/PT) circuits and basic relaying circuits; National Electrical Code

+ Comfortable and competent to work with energized control and protection circuits within the allowances and requirements of the Electrical Work Practices procedures

+ Able to read electrical schematics and wiring diagrams as well as troubleshoot control circuits from such drawings.

+ Good interpersonal skills are required, both written and verbal.

+ The ability to work effectively in a team environment is critical.

+ Willing and able to take after hour call duty and work overtime per business needs.

+ Good working knowledge of Excel, Word, and standard software tools, etc.

+ Be proficient in computers to perform job tasks.

+ Effectively manages multiple competing priorities.

+ Strong troubleshooting skills.

+ Able to communicate with a very diverse population which is spread across the site.

+ Strong reading comprehension and listening skills.

+ Strong multi-tasking, problem solving and time management skills.

+ Demonstrate leadership skills - inspire others and lead them through influence.

+ Able to work with independently with minimal supervision with in an empowered team environment.

+ Strong work ethic.

+ Have a high regard for personal safety and the safety of others.
