Job Description:

OverviewThe Clinician is a member of the program's clinical team. The Clinician provides individual, group, and family therapy for the Unaccompanied Children (UC), conducts assessments and works in collaboration with multidisciplinary treatment teams to develop treatment plans and conduct utilization reviews. The Clinician is primarily responsible for the therapeutic needs and continuum of the clinical care for the UC in accordance to Agency policies and procedures, licensing standards, and federal, state, and local regulatory agencies. ResponsibilitiesEssential Duties

Complete a comprehensive psychological assessment to initiate ongoing behavioral health counseling for UC; complete the intake for each UC at time of admission and assessment of new residents/children Establish goals/treatment through a collaborative process with the UC utilizing advanced counseling skills, including evidence-based practices and screening (assessments); create and update treatment plans, including resident treatment goals and activity formulationComplete assessments at the point of intake, throughout the treatment process, and at discharge to ensure residents treatment plans are meeting established goals and objectivesComplete and update UC case files with treatment plans, progress, behavior issues, and other related information regarding the residents' behavior outcomesCoordinate, schedule, and facilitate individual, family and group therapy sessions to address UC's emotional, mental, and social well-being and as outlined in the treatment planComply with HIPPA privacy regulations and maintain confidentiality at all timesPrepare for periodic treatment review meetings by completing progress reports and updated treatment plansProvide complex crisis intervention and stabilization to UC who are in psychological distressRegularly monitor the emotional, mental, and social well-being of residents and provide or arrange for services as deemed appropriateComplete detailed and accurate reports to the Division of Unaccompanied Children's Services (DUCS) on time (per report deadline) and as requestedUtilize positive child management techniques, including verbal re-direction, de-escalation, and physical containment when handling behavioral issues and crises with residentsProvide Clinical Director and other members of the clinical team with UC progress and treatment needsCoordinate and complete discharge or placement servicesUpdate resident records/files with behavior issues, concerns, incidents, and progress in a timely manner and in compliance with Agency and licensing standards and federal and state regulatory requirements Provide emergency crisis intervention and on-call clinical services when needed Other duties or special projects as assignedWorking Relationships
Build and maintain cooperative working relationships with the Lead Clinician, clinical staff, multidisciplinary teams, community partners, service providers, management, and staff to ensure the needs of the residents/children and program goals, objectives, and services are being met at the highest quality; work within the established ethical boundaries at all times.Work closely with Lead Clinician, clinical staff, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure program operations, policies, and procedures are executed in a manner that meets the needs of the residents and achieves program goals and objectivesWork as team player and exhibit professional behavior and a positive attitude with both internal and external clients that reflects positively on the Agency and is consistent with Agency policies and practicesQualificationsMinimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Social Work plus 5 years' clinical employment experience OR Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology or other relevant social science in which direct clinical experience is a program requirementEligible for licensureAbility to establish rapport, trust, and boundaries with children, parents, and familiesStrong people and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with diverse groups of people in a professional manner at all timesExcellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to write accurate and legible case notes without grammatical errorsDemonstrated ability to maintain a high level of professionalism consistent with the Social Work Code of Ethics; maintain confidentially of information at all timesThe ability to apply compassion and empathy, while dealing with stressful and difficult situationsThe ability to work independently and collaboratively within a groupStrong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage a heavy caseload and meet deadlinesProficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OutlookBilingual in English and Spanish (based on service area and service population) Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology or other relevant social science in which direct clinical experience is a program requirementFully licensed5 years' previous therapy/clinical experience with children and/or adolescentsPrevious experience providing therapy in an ORR environment, highly preferred Physical Demands & Work Conditions
This position requires sitting and looking and using a computer for long periods of timePosition works in a child facility and has constant exposure to childrenLift, push, pull, move up to 50 lbs.
