Job Description Job Description Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in
Orientation and Mobility or Special Education, Certification as a
Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS), and 1 years
Orientation and Mobility Specialist experience required. Applicants
who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. An
opportunity is available for a certified Orientation and Mobility
Specialist (OMS) to provide essential support to K-12 students
within a Southeast Texas coastal school district. This contract
position will enable you to apply specialized skills to help
students develop independent navigation and mobility skills in a
school setting. Location: Corpus Christi, TX Position Type:
Contract, Part-Time Duration: January 5, 2026 May 28, 2026
Schedule: Approximately 16 hours per week, typically two 8-hour
days Key Responsibilities: Conduct individualized orientation and
mobility instruction tailored to students unique needs. Assess
student skills and modify programs to improve independence and
safety in travel. Collaborate with educators, parents, and support
staff to integrate mobility goals into daily routines. Utilize
specialized techniques and adaptive tools to support visual
impairment challenges. Maintain accurate records of student
progress and provide reports as needed. Qualifications: Active
Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) certification required.
Certification through AVCREP or a closely related credential is
preferred. Experience working with K-12 students and knowledge of
age-appropriate instructional strategies. Strong communication
skills and ability to work effectively within an educational team
