Certifications: - RRT with National Board for Respiratory Care -
ACLS - BLS Must-Have: - Critical care experience with adults
Description: Data collection date is 06/20/2025. The unit provides
care in various settings, including ICU, ED, NICU, Med/Surg, and
Tele. There are 24 ICU beds, 16 ED beds, 16 NICU beds, 40 Med/Surg
beds, and 25 Tele beds. The unit employs 20 Respiratory Therapists.
During the day shift, there is 1 Supervisor and 3-4 RTs. The night
shift consists of 3-4 RTs. Patient ratios are not applicable.
Equipment includes 840, 980, V60, Vapotherm, Hamilton MR1, and C1.
The EMR system used is Meditech. Typical procedures performed
include: - Patient assessment. - Administering therapies, including
oxygen and aerosol medication delivery, as well as chest
physiotherapy. - Assisting with bronchoscopies at the bedside and
in the endoscopy suite. - Assisting with the placement of
artificial airways. - Initiating, monitoring, and maintaining
mechanical ventilation. - Assisting with the transportation of
ventilator-dependent patients. - Responding to emergent patient
situations and ensuring airway integrity and adequate ventilation
during resuscitation as required. - Assisting at moderate and
high-risk deliveries for neonatal stabilization and/or
resuscitation. - Serving as a clinical resource, providing
education to patients and their families, along with staff. -
Performing various duties related to setting up, operating,
cleaning, sterilizing, and storing respiratory therapy equipment.
Floating areas may include different departments. Dress code
requires pewter grey scrubs. Rotating weekends may be part of the
schedule.
