Job Description:
The Staff Psychiatrist provides comprehensive psychiatric care
to Veterans referred for Mental Health services within the
Psychiatrist's approved privileges. In addition to Veteran care,
the Psychiatrist may have responsibilities in other areas such as
education and research.

This position is eligible for
the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP). Duties The Staff
Psychiatrist conducts initial psychiatric evaluations, follow-up
visits, consultations, group therapy/treatment, medication
management, crisis assessment and intervention to Veterans.
Psychiatrists are capable of assessment and treatment across the
full spectrum of DSM 5 diagnoses. Modalities of care include
face-to-face interventions and telemental health (TMH) and may
provide cross coverage to other clinical sites throughout the VA
Texas Valley Coastal Bend
Health Care System via telemental health as needed.
In general, the Staff Psychiatrist is responsible for providing
psychiatric care in an outpatient setting, identifying Veterans'
mental and medical health needs and designing diagnostic and
therapeutic plans to meet these needs and serves as the medical
subject matter expert within their assigned team
and may be responsible for coordinating activities of other health
service personnel, resolving problems affecting Veteran care, and
providing appropriate education for the Veteran and/or family
members regarding the Veteran's care, condition, and its
management.
Care is provided in accordance with VA/DoD Clinical Practice
Guidelines as measured by the Peer Review Program and various
quality metrics.
Approximately 95% of the Psychiatrist's time will be devoted to
patient care. Depending on other activities, sufficient time will
be allotted to teaching, research, and administrative duties, as
appropriate.

Pay:
Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary
