Job Description:
System Chief Medical Officer Driscoll Health System seeks a
strategic, collaborative and dynamic leader to serve as its next
System Chief Medical Officer (CMO). This is an exciting opportunity
to provide leadership for hospital and medical staff, which results
in measurable, high-quality patient care, driven by system-wide
clinical practices, protocols, and standards and delivered with
operational and service excellence. Based in Corpus Christi, Texas,
Driscoll Health System (DHS) has been a leader in pediatric care
since its inception in 1953. DHS is anchored by Driscoll Children's
Hospital, which is a 191-bed pediatric tertiary care center with
more than 30 medical and surgical specialties. DHS also includes a
multi-specialty medical group, urgent care centers, an after-hours
facility, a health plan as well as numerous collaborative
relationships with regional providers. The health system serves a
31-county area with plans of growth, outlined in its strategic plan
approved by the Board of Directors. On a daily basis, physicians
and patients are transported to Driscoll by ground and air to
ensure the children of South Texas receive the best treatment
possible. Guided by the strategic principle of "more care for more
kids," Driscoll is focused on increasing service offerings and
access to high quality, coordinated care. DHS will open a second
hospital in the Rio Grande Valley in Winter 2023. The hospital will
serve the Rio Grande Valley community which has a population of one
million across a 100-mile region. The eight-story, 176,000 sq. ft.
facility will be comprised of approximately 103 beds and
approximately 550 employees. Reporting to the President and CEO,
and in collaboration with the leadership team at Driscoll
Children's Hospital, the CMO will be responsible for setting a
culture of excellence in the delivery of clinical services. Working
with the senior leadership team, medical staff, Board of Directors,
the Quality and Safety team, and the Medical Staff Office, the CMO
will establish the direction and priorities for DHS in enhancing
the overall quality, safety, effectiveness, and efficiency of
healthcare delivery. The CMO will provide leadership for the
development of system-wide quality improvement and medical staff
strategies for DHS. The CMO will provide advice to the senior
leadership team on clinical issues related to resource utilization,
utilization review and medical management and will evaluate new
technologies and treatment protocols to ensure that contemporary
medical practices are in place. The CMO will be a visible and
engaged leader, both locally and nationally, who will provide DHS
with valuable insights into pediatric healthcare trends and
opportunities for innovation and differentiation. The ideal
candidate with be an engaging and collaborative physician
executive, with a deep knowledge and appreciation for pediatric
healthcare. S/he will understand how to work in a matrixed health
system and balance the needs of the local community with the system
goals and initiatives. Candidates should have a track record of
supporting an organization in providing high-quality patient care.
