Job DescriptionWant to join the fastest-growing hospitality company on the south Texas coast? Bluff's Landing Marina & Lodge is looking for an experienced Head Chef / Kitchen Manager to join their waterfront restaurant, The Lookout.   • Hire, train, and manage BOH team, including chefs, kitchen staff and dishwashers.
  • Oversee the ordering and delivery of food supplies, prepare special dishes, and supervise overall kitchen operations during service.
  • Design new recipes, plan and cost menus, and select and design plate presentations. We a largely a gluten free/celiac-friendly restaurant, so knowledge and a willingness to embrace this is a MUST!
  • Train staff to use new recipes, cooking techniques and equipment, and oversee cooks performing food preparation.
  • Review staffing levels to meet service, operational, and financial objectives.
  • Perform administrative tasks including taking stock of food and equipment supplies, monthly inventory, and purchase orders.
  • Work with management and HR to set and monitor performance standards for staff, including coordinating staff appraisals and reviews.
  • Obtain feedback on food and service quality, and handle customer problems and complaints in a polite and professional manner.Qualifications
    • 2+ years of culinary education and 5+ years experience in a similar position.
    • Food Manager certification, plus excellent knowledge of BOH systems, ordering and inventory.Personal Attributes

      • Ability to demonstrate experience in team leadership, be willing to lead by example and communicate kindly and respectfully with team members and guests, even when under pressure.
      • Must take pride in their work, pay attention to the details and be in good physical fitness; able to stand, walk, and bend for long periods of time.
      • Tech-savvy; must be able to utilize apps and software used for managing the department as well as provide reports to management where necessary.
      • Accountable and proactive with the ability to meet deadlines.Hours & Salary
        • The successful candidate will have flexible working hours, but must be able to work on-call, weekends, after hours, and during public holidays.
