Job Description:
This position, under the supervision of the Risk Management
Supervisor, is responsible for supporting the strategic operations
of the Risk Management Program for the Port of Corpus Christi.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Provide professional assistance in the
development of requests for proposals (RFP) and/or bids for
property and casualty insurance coverage (g., property, automobile
and general liability, workers--- compensation commercial crime,
marine public officials, pollutions, E&O, law enforcement,
etc.), property appraisals, actuarial reviews, third party claims
administrators and similar risk management services Coordinate
property and casualty insurance contract renewal processes,
including obtaining, revising and/or updating underwriting data
(property, equipment and marine values), financials, compiling data
and providing to broker of record Ensures the Schedule of Values is
always maintained and current Develop, prepare and/or maintain
various reports, spreadsheets and records; maintain all Risk
Management department---s records and ensure compliance with
records retention as required by statute and/or Port policies
Maintains insurance portfolio Submits property and casualty claims
(liability, property, bodily injury, etc.) claims to the Port---s
insurance carriers and/or adjusters Manages the property and
casualty claims Works collaboratively with independent adjusters,
carriers and brokers to resolve claims Conducts monthly claims
review with Claims Adjusters and Risk Management Supervisor to
ensure cost containment of claims Provides professional assistance
with annual insurer audits Ensures documentation of department
contracts and policies are accurately maintained Assist in the
preparation of various risk management statistical claim/analytical
reports Oversees limited duty employees assigned to the Risk
Management Department Prepares statistical claims reports, projects
and performs related duties and tasks as assigned Modifies and
develops processes which enhance operational components of the
department Performs contract review for determination of insurance
requirements Ensures all certificates of insurance required to Port
contracts are current Assists with the development and presentation
of Commission agenda items Adheres to all Port policies, adheres to
the SEAPORT values and maintains good employee relations Performs
all job functions in a safe manner and abides by all safety
guidelines Drives vehicle as necessary to complete assigned tasks
and works required hours to fulfill position objectives Performs
other related duties as assigned CPR certified or ability to become
CPR certified within the first year of employment Tier 2 status
designation CANDIDATE PROFILE The preferred candidate for this
position should be a detail-oriented individual with a mature
judgment and diplomacy with analytical skills. They must possess
the following: EDUCATION & CREDENTIALS Bachelor---s degree in
Business Administration, Risk Management, Occupational Safety, or
other related field from an accredited public or private
institution preferred Associate in Risk Management (ARM) or
Certified Risk Manager (CRM) designation preferred Adjuster---s
license preferred Ability to obtain and maintain a Transportation
Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) during course of employment
Valid driver---s license EXPERIENCE & JOB KNOWLEDGE Experience in
planning or operations of risk management, safety and health,
property and casualty, business continuity and/or workers---
compensation program required Minimum of 3 years of related risk
management or insurance experience required Knowledge of
statistical methods, risk management techniques and practices,
knowledge of self-insured and fully insured programs, various types
of insurance, bonds, property and/or casualty claims management,
knowledge of federal, state (TORT) and local laws and ordinances
governing commercial insurance, workers--- compensation Experience
and knowledge of employer responsibilities as required by Texas
Department of Insurance/Division of Workers--- Compensation Ability
to perform research and use computer software to capture and
analyze different types of data, proficiency in the use of claims
management systems, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel ESSENTIAL
PHYSICAL JOB FUNCTIONS Ability to perform essential job functions,
including but not limited to frequent standing, walking, sitting,
speaking or hearing, typing and occasional reaching, stooping,
kneeling, lifting and/or moving up to 20 pounds with or without
