Job Description:

The Mechanical Engineer at Corpus Christi Polymers, LLC (CCP) will support strategic long-term programs/projects as well as address short-term operational issues. Types of equipment in these are: screw compressors, boosters, chiller units, pumps, and blowers in order to efficiently operate the CCP Manufacturing plant. This position will report to the Maintenance Manager and works closely with all maintenance positions. REQUIRED QUALIFICATION(s) --- Undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering --- 1 year of experience with mechanical maintenance in a regulated industry (chemical, oil, and gas, refinery).--- Knowledge of rotary and fixed mechanical equipment. PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(s)--- Mechanical Engineering (ME) CertificateESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES--- Daily mechanical engineering support, development of preventive maintenance program for all mechanical equipment (planning and scheduling)--- Preventive & corrective maintenance to rotary equipment.--- Scheduling of all mechanical inspections applicable to fixed equipment.--- Spare parts definition to all rotary equipment mentioned above, definition of predictive and preventive maintenance routine including frequency.--- Evaluate existing designs to determine areas of performance/reliability improvements and appropriate cost targets.--- Evaluate the condition of mechanical equipment using vibration and ultrasound analysis to predict life and adjusts maintenance intervals.--- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on compressors, blowers (double screw units, impellers), Turbo-Expanders, Screw Compressors, Chiller units (Screw compressor), Train Compressors (PTA Plant), Gear Boxes & Mechanical Reducers, Lubrication systems (Grease and Oil).--- Develops and completes completion of design deliverables such as mechanical layouts, CAD design models, product design specifications, failure modes analysis, component design specifications, design documents, unit tests, verifications, and validation plans and reports. --- Develop of inspection program for fixed equipment based on API standards and applies industry standards and codes to all job specifications (calculations & drawings) API 650, API 510, API 570, API 653, ASME Section VIII.--- Participate in unit process safety systems including Management of Change, PSR's and PHA's on new installations and modifications to existing equipment.--- Accurately document all work and repair history into SAP, plant maintenance or project systems platform.--- Coordinates with management on operational needs and/or process improvement opportunities.--- Maintain good housekeeping at the site, and clean worksite. --- Ensure all work is done in accordance with approved working procedures with stringent adherence to 5S program and all production checklists. --- Actively promote a strong safety culture and ensure all equipment and operating practices are in compliance with site, OSHA, state and federal regulations.KEY COMPETENCIES & SKILLS--- Skilled in conducting failure analysis on mechanical designs and developing/ contributing to FMEA documents--- Demonstrated understanding of standards. Familiarity with ASME Code, and API Standards--- Knowledge of chemicals and compounding manufacturing plant processes and experience in machinery operation and repair--- Understanding of spare parts definition for mechanical equipment--- Basic industrial mechanical --- Ability to read piping and instrumentation diagrams/drawing--- Excellent written and verbal communication skills--- Effective problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure--- Demonstrated leadership, teamwork, innovation, and accountability--- Advanced computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, and ERP systems--- Able to work independently, have strong time management skills and able to prioritize job list efficiently--- Carries out job duties in a manner that demonstrates ability to achieve the expected level of efficiency, quality, timeliness and results--- Uses critical thinking and reflective analysis to make best decisions for the plant and the team following plant policies, procedures, OSHA, and environmental standards
