Primary Responsibilities
To maintain and enhance the delivery of electric energy and related services to the Cooperative's membership by managing the activities and resources of the Engineering Department through planning, implementing, and evaluating its functioning. To assist and support to the Chief Operating Officer and to keep them informed of the end results that are being achieved. Advise and assist the Chief Operating Officer by providing reports and information regarding progress and developments (total system), so that the Chief Operating Officer can effectively discharge his responsibility. To provide information to other departments and seek such professional and technical assistance as is needed from staff departments and consultants as is necessary, and as approved by the Chief Operating Officer, to enable all system departments to effectively discharge their assigned responsibilities and secure desired results. May assist/back-up COO in special projects. Position is a part of operations supervisor on-call rotation.
Essential Job Functions
Protects and enhances the life expectancy of the Cooperative's assets by planning, developing, and recommending appropriate policies with respect to system engineering planning, maintenance, and safety.
Maintains a high level of coordination in the Cooperative's purchasing function by making timely technical and economic evaluations of special equipment, transformer, meter equipment prior to purchases (e.g., transformer loss evaluations).
Maximizes the efficiency of the Engineering Department by effectively supervising the departments human resources.
Maximizes the efficient use of the cooperative's resources by staying within +/-5% of budgeted figures.

Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
5-10 years of Electric Utility Engineering experience with demonstrated supervisory skills.
Class C Driver's License

Preferred Requirements
5 years' experience in operations or engineering management or another management discipline
Knowledge of distribution overhead and underground systems designs and operations and maintenance as per RUS specifications in both 7.2 kV and 14.4 kV.
Maintain a Professional Engineering License within the state of Texas or be able to obtain one within 3 years of employment with the Cooperative.
